Wedding Accommodations

Well, time is getting very close and we are excited! I wanted to post a few options for hotels in the area for those of you coming to stay from out of town. The wedding will be held in the beautiful chapel on the campus of Furman University. It's actually on the outskirts of town between Greenville and a little town called Traveler's Rest...that's right...I guess a lot of people used to travel through the town and they couldn't think of a better name. Who knows, but we definitely want to push you towards the Greenville side of things. :)

So, I have blocked off rooms at two hotels. The first choice is a brand new Hampton Inn and Suites in downtown Greenville. It's in the part of Greenville that is being totally renovated. It's beside our new park (where Clay proposed):) and within walking distance to many cute shops and restaurants right off of main street. This would be my first choice to stay if I could afford to splurge for the weekend.

Rates
-$129 for a standard room with 2 queen beds or a king.
You can add a view of the "river" or a balcony for another $10.
The triple A rate is $122.
-pros:
-location is great and you don't need a car to walk to the downtown where you can
shop or eat or go for a walk or run in the park.
-the price includes a hot breakfast every morning.
-cons:
-they are doing construction across from a few of the rooms so some of the views
might not be pretty.
-the parking garage belongs to the city and adds another $6/day onto your bill
unless you want to ride around and look for parking near the hotel.

The second option is the Greenville Hilton. It is newly remodeled and beautiful inside. It is a few miles further, but still not that far and is off the same road as the local mall.

Rates:
-$104 for a standard room with a king bed or 2 double beds.
You can add $10 for a little bigger room with a small couch that folds out into a
double bed.

-I'm not sure what the triple A rate is, but it should take it below $100. You would
have to pay over the phone for that rate and it's non-refundable.

-pros:
-a little cheaper
-free transport to and from the hotel and the airport by a shuttle.
-inside pool

-cons:
-no breakfast included
-not in walking distance of the cute downtown, but the mall is very close. You
could walk there if you didn't mind walking by a lot of traffic.

Both hotels have a hold on several rooms. Just tell them you are calling with the Danner/Fleming wedding and don't forget to mention triple A if you have it.

For Reservations Call:
-Hampton Inn & Suites River Place: (864) 271-8700
-Hilton Greenville: (864) 232-4747

There are a lot of other hotels in the area. The link below is a list of hotels listed by distance from Furman University. So you can see how far each one is from where the wedding will be. There are a few more in the downtown area that are incredible, but expensive. The Westin Poinsett, for example, was the first hotel in Greenville and they completely renovated it, but kept a 20's style throughout..beautiful even just to walk through. There are also a few bed and breakfast places in town. There are cheaper options also such as the Courtyard Marriott on Orchard Park Rd. That is in the area with the Hilton. It's triple A rate according to the website is $80.

I also want to mention that we have friends and family that are more than willing to help us out this weekend and will offer rooms in there homes for free. Please just let me or Clay know and we will work that out for as many of you as possible. Our friends and family also can help in transportation when Clay and I can't come to and from the airport for some reason. They can help pick up from hotels for the rehearsal, wedding, etc. Please just let us know what you will need that weekend and we will arrange it. I hope this information helps and I can't wait to have so many people who have meant so much to us throughout our lives in one place at one time agreeing with us as we start this journey!

Please feel free to email or call with any questions about hotels, a place to stay, how to get around, etc. We can group people together for rooms too if you let us know. We may have single girls or guys coming from around that we can group together in rooms to save money.
